Reflecting on Ten Years of Leadership at GPHCC
Dear Friends--
As I sit down to write this letter, I am filled with gratitude. Ten years ago, I stepped into the role of President & CEO of GPHCC, building on the strong foundation that already existed, with a deep sense of purpose and a simple belief: Hispanic entrepreneurs deserve every opportunity to thrive. What I could not have imagined then was how profoundly the journey—and the moments that tested us—would shape who we are today as an organization and as a community.
Over the past decade, I have witnessed stories that inspire me every day—entrepreneurs turning dreams into thriving enterprises, families building legacies, and a network that reflects the resilience, creativity, and determination of Hispanic businesses in our region. Those stories came into even sharper focus during the pandemic, when uncertainty threatened the livelihoods of so many of our members and required us to adapt quickly and lead with intention.
That moment of crisis clarified our mission in powerful ways. We doubled down on delivering high‑quality education that met entrepreneurs where they were. We invested intentionally in cultivating relationships within our network, knowing that trust and connection would be essential to recovery. We worked to elevate the visibility of Hispanic‑owned businesses at a time when recognition could mean survival. And we advocated relentlessly to ensure our members had access to resources, relief, and a voice in critical conversations.
One of the clearest examples of this approach was the origin of what has become Dine Latino Restaurant Week. What began as a modest social media campaign to support struggling restaurants during the height of the pandemic has grown into a signature initiative that celebrates, strengthens, and elevates Latino‑owned restaurants across the region. It remains a powerful reminder that when community leads, impact follows.
Through these experiences, my vision for GPHCC deepened. Our work has never been just about business growth. It has been about building social capital—the relationships that open doors, spark collaboration, and create resilience long after a program or campaign ends. Watching members support one another, share knowledge and resources, and grow together has been one of the most meaningful aspects of my tenure.
This milestone in my leadership is not mine alone. It belongs to our members, partners, board, and staff who have stood together through moments of growth, challenge, and transformation. Your trust, engagement, and collaboration have made GPHCC not only a catalyst for business success, but a strong, connected network rooted in shared purpose.
As we look ahead, I am filled with optimism and resolve. We have ambitious plans—to expand our reach, strengthen our programs, and continue advocating for policies that support Hispanic businesses and wealth creation. But more than anything, we remain committed to building a future where Hispanic businesses are not just participants in the economy—they are leaders, supported by a vibrant and connected community.
Thank you for being part of this journey and for believing in the power of collective progress. I look forward to all that we will continue to build together in the years ahead.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Rodriguez, MCP
